In the spring of 2004, we decided to start breeding Missouri foxtrotters because of their wonderful gaits, beautiful colours and fabulous dispositions.
In June 2004, we went to Missouri to select our herd. We brought home 3 mares and a yearling filly to be the basis of our breeding operation as well as the little grey colt we named Twilight. We were very lucky and brought home mares with old and new bloodlines with beautiful colours, looks and gaits as well as that wonderful foxtrotter disposition the breed is known for.
In 2007, we made the very hard decision to sell the black filly Kristy so we could buy our   new black mare Misty. We bred Misty to the champagne stallion Lobo and she foaled the classic champagne stud colt Zephyr. Our herd has grown to seven with one on the way for 2009. No two horses are the same colour and together they are a delight to see and a pleasure to be around and work with.
We are located in Ontario south of Sarnia, east of London, north of Wallaceburg and to our west, is Michigan and the border with the U.S.A.
Our family enjoys 48 acres that the Black Creek meanders through. It’s VERY quiet here and wildlife abounds. Our land is mostly flood plain and that means that is not much good for anything but nature and trails to enjoy it by.
We believe that the most healthy way to care for horses is not to house them in stalls but rather to keep them out in the elements with a lean-too shelter to scoot into if they wish. They have unlimited acess to quality horse hay in big roundbales and the water tank is always full.
We have been lucky to have had several beautiful healthy foals born here and we like to think that the MFT reputation as a good natured awesome riding horse is spreading in Ontario in part as a result of our work here at Black Creek Foxtrotters. We have sold five horse so far.
We imprint train our foals as soon as we can after they are foaled. The new pair is turned out with the others so the foals will develop socially and have the freedom to run and play at will, practicing their gaits and other moves. Being out with other horses is the best way to develope their personalities and learn how to be a horse which is just as important as their physical development. A good friend of mine said "If you baby your horses you will always have to baby them" and our horses are very healthy and happy, tough and sound. We do not blanket them and their feet wear naturally and need triming less often.

Come on out and see our horses for yourself and if you want to we'll go for a ride too.
